Special Letter From The Editor

In yesterday's editorial, I told y'all about LJ purging journals and communities with 'incest' and other related terms in their interests.  It is due to a group of people called Warriors for Innocence and they wish to target groups involved in child porn, pedophilia and other sexual acts against children.

Unfortunately, it seems that Livejournal seems to have targeted fandom groups that have those interests, like [info]pornish_pixies  and only incidentally got RL groups.

I know some of us in the InuYasha fandom write Sess/Rin fiction and the majority age Rin up to an appropriate age, but still the purge makes me pause and ponder about topics such as freedom of expression, censorship and other things.

So y'all be careful, for it seems that fandom is being watched very carefully.  And this is rather odd coming on the wings of the Fanlib.com controversy as well.

I have some links for your perusal.  All have additional links, so check them out as well.

ETA: I made a posting at Ravynstone Abbey: LiveJournal, Freedom of Speech and Sex.  I'll be updating that post with more links as I find them.  [info]metafandom and [info]fanthropology are also great places for comments and links.

[info]innocence_jihad and [info]fandom_counts are also places to check out.  [info]fandom_counts' sole purpose is to enumerate fandom journals on LJ.
